Male Breast Liposuction
Technically known as Gynaecomastia, enlarged breasts in men are a condition that is actually quite common and can be treated effectively by surgery.
About Male Breast Reduction
All men have breast tissue. Unfortunately, that amount is too high for some people. In fact, in some cases, a man’s breasts can be as large as a woman’s C-cup. It may also be caused by a hormonal imbalance. However, in most cases, blood tests and laboratory tests do not reveal any abnormalities. Whatever the cause, this condition causes great embarrassment for men.
Many people report skipping swimming and playing to avoid taking their shirts off. Older boys may even choose to skip gym class if they have to take a shower afterward. No amount of exercise or dietary restrictions will solve the problem. However, surgery can remove the excess tissue and permanently restore normal appearance.
Your Consultation
During your consultation, your surgeon will take your general medical history and ask about previous surgeries. You will also be asked about any medications you take regularly, such as vitamins and supplements. For example, anabolic steroids taken by some bodybuilders can cause gynecomastia. We will also need to determine your current fitness level and discuss your treatment goals. Your surgeon will also explain the surgery, explain any scarring it will leave, and discuss what to expect after surgery.
Your operation
Male breast surgery is carried out under general anesthesia and can be done as a day case or with a one-night stay in the hospital. The procedure may be done in one of two ways –
The surgeon may make a half-moon incision around or below the areola and cut away the unwanted breast tissue. Alternatively, he may choose to eliminate the excess tissue using specially designed lipoplasty equipment. This technique allows the surgeon to break up and draw off excess breast tissue through a fine cannula under a high vacuum.
Because this strategy requires only a small wound toward the armpit or under the nipple there is virtually no scarring. Sometimes the two techniques are combined. In all cases, surgery continues until the area is flat and normal in appearance.
After your surgery
Bleeding after male breast surgery is rare but a drainage tube may be used as a precaution sometimes. If it is used, the draining tube will be removed the morning after your surgery.
As you recover, there are some things you should expect-
Bruising and swelling after surgery are normal and may last a week or more. Tissue hardening or clumping due to swelling may last for more than a month. You will feel some discomfort. However, you will be prescribed pain medication to help you feel more comfortable. If you don’t have enough pain medication, call your surgeon’s office. Do not take aspirin as it can increase bleeding. Rest assured that your breast tissue will not grow back after surgery. However, swelling from surgery may take up to 6 to 9 months to subside.
Depending on your job and the method your surgeon uses, you may be able to return to work in one to two weeks. You should avoid lifting for about 14 days. Swimming and sports, especially contact sports, must be avoided for at least one month. It is recommended that you do not engage in strenuous exercise such as walking.
Infection after male breast surgery is Chennai. Should it occur, your surgeon will prescribe a course of antibiotics. Rarely, in cases where only the liposuction method is used, a second operation is required to remove tissue that could not be removed by liposuction. This situation may not manifest itself until all the swelling from your first procedure has settled.
