What Is Dermaplaning?

What is Dermaplaning?

Dermaplaning is a physical exfoliation procedure for your face. It requires the use of a surgical scalpel to gently “shave”(not scary as it sounds) the top-most layer of dead skin along with fine, vellus hair (aka peach fuzz)

“The primary use of Dermaplaning is to get rid of dead cells and peach fuzz on the face”

Before You Plan on Dermaplaning, let’s answer some of the frequently asked questions by our clients at Desire Aesthetics.

1. Does Dermaplaning Hurt?

The thought of a blade sliding across the face is scary, but it’s not painful at all. Think of it like shaving any other part of the body, when a qualified-trainer Aesthetician does that, no hassle at all.

2. What are the benefits of Dermaplaning

Dermaplaning gives smoother skinzero peach fuzz (until it grows back), and slightly brighter-looking skin. In addition to removing all your dead skin cells, skin care products will penetrate better into the skin when applied, making them all the more effective.

3. Will shaving make the hair grow back thicker?

Dermaplaning will not make your hair grow back thicker or darker. It’ll be the same texture as it was before and it will grow at the speed it usually grows.

4. Who should I see for my Dermaplaning treatment?

The best people for the job will be a medical aesthetician from a dermatologist or plastic surgeon’s clinic to ensure the best and safest results. Please don’t try this at home, you should leave it to the pros to avoid nicks, ingrown, and stubble.

At Desire Aesthetics, our treatments are personalized to meet your needs and with the best Qualified & Trained aesthetician, You’ll get back your glow and radiate beauty back in no time.

What to Expect after Dermaplaning?

1. Is there any downtime after a Dermaplaning treatment?

Some light redness can be expected but not always. It’s perfectly fine and common to make an appointment during lunch and go right back to work after the 40-minute treatment.

2. How often do I need Dermaplaning treatments?

As its a deep physical exfoliation procedure, it is recommended to wait at least a month between appointments.

3. Will Dermaplaning make my skin more sensitive to the sun?

After exfoliation, the skin is exposed to sun, so no choice of skipping sunscreen.

For soft, smooth, peach fuzz-free, Radiating skin Dermaplaning is the best option. It’s definitely doing more for the skin than the basic monthly facial, both short term and long term.
